Premises Management Workshop

This two-day workshop has been designed for school business managers, premises managers, caretakers and others responsible for the school site.

The programme aims to raise awareness of best practice in maintaining school buildings against a background of demanding regulations.  Setting high standards for maintenance is particularly relevant where premises are being rebuilt and refurbished.

This workshop will be facilitated by Malcom Thomas, an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor and Town Planner, who provides training programmes in  building maintenance management.  Malcolm has extensive experience of working with schools and Local Authorities.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • review current statutory requirements affecting school premises
  • illustrate how effective planning of building maintenance achieves value for money
  • identify and understand key common building defects and recognising what needs repairing and servicing
  • demonstrate best practice in procuring remedial work
