Categories and Fees

We welcome members from a range of settings working in or very closely aligned to all areas encompassed by school business management. We recognise that professional colleagues have varying titles and levels of role responsibilities, however we wish to remain as inclusive, to those seeking to move into the profession as to those already working in significant leadership positions in schools. With the significant growth of leaders and managers in schools we are also welcoming of more than one member per school where generic school business management responsibilities overlap.
 

To reflect this we have 5 separate categories enabling information and sharing of best practice across the profession.

Member

Applicable to:

  • Colleagues leading school support staff professionals working to ensure educational aims and services are delivered
  • Colleagues leading school support professionals in British Schools overseas
  • Colleagues working in Local Authority/Education Finance teams directly employed by the Local Authority.  At the discretion of the Board, an applicant for Membership may be employed as a consultant school business manager rather than employed directly by the school.

Fellow

Applicable to:

  • Colleagues completing the first module of the Post Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership (School Business Management) via the Association’s programme in partnership with the University of Leicester
  • Colleagues applying for Fellow via the Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) route.  For further details, please contact sian.lawrence@nasbm.co.uk to register your name and email address.

Applicable to:

  • Colleagues leaving employment within education who want to retain a link to the Association.  Affiliates in this category would be limited to a maximum period of two years
  • Individuals not currently working within education but actively seeking a move into the profession.  Affiliates in this category would be limited to a maximum period of two years
  • Colleagues working in education abroad who wish to be aware of UK developments within the profession.

Applicable to:

  • Consultant School Business Management colleagues and individuals and businesses with a commercial interest in school business management.

Life Members

Applicable to:

  • Those by invitation of the Association only, who were active members at the time of their retirement or to any colleagues (members or not) who have made a significant contribution to the school business management profession and/or Association.
